Compliance Examiner

Compliance Examiner

The Compliance Examiner is responsible for performing research, observing Business Unit activities, performing policy and procedure reviews, performing transaction testing, documenting testing results, and issue tracking. Compliance Examiners are Support Examiners responsible for providing frequent updates on the progress of testing to the Lead Examiner. The role will participate in the weekly testing touchpoint meetings with the business process groups and review team to communicate preliminary findings, ask questions, if any, and offer recommendations, as well as take minutes when requested. This role will track and validate open issues to ensure they are properly remediated, corrected, and closed.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for testing and monitoring activities specific to state and consumer protection laws impacting Aqua’s products.
  • Identify compliance risks and controls, escalate where appropriate.
  • Staying abreast of business change management for products and systems, regulatory change management, policies and procedures, and monitoring and testing reviews.
  • Analyze existing policies, procedures, workflows, and first line of defense monitoring to identify gaps and recommend new and/or revised policies and procedures and monitoring methods in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Develop recommendations for corrective actions based on test results.
  • Track issues through to closure, including corrective action validation.
  • Identify root causes of deficiencies and to summarize and apply complex regulatory requirements to current processes in a timely manner
  • Perform testing and monitoring for compliance with consumer related regulations, laws or areas

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related subject discipline required
  • 3 years of experience in the financial services industry (consumer indirect/direct lending compliance)
  • 1 year of experience working in a consumer compliance financial services testing environment required.
  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager certification preferred
  • An understanding of consumer retail finance regulations (non-mortgage related -TILA, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, EFTA, ESIGN, GLBA, MLA, SCRA, TCPA, UDAAP, etc.) regulatory advisories applicable to the financial services industry preferred
  • Knowledge of indirect and direct consumer retail lending preferred
  • Knowledge / proficiency using Jira/Confluence preferred
  • Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Attention to detail and accuracy required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

Pay Range
